The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) will construct a ₹128 crore underground drainage system along with two stormwater drains – at Patny and another at Rasoolpura, to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains with the help of ₹303.62 crore and another ₹11 crore grant from the Defence Ministry, said BJP Malakjgiri MP Eatala Rajender on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).
Talking to the media, the former Minister claimed that he and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy had written letters to the Defence Ministry to transfer the ₹303.62 crore compensation to be given by the Telangana Government – for acquisition of Defence lands to construct two elevated corridors – to the SCB for improving civic amenities. A board resolution was also passed for the same.
Apart from providing more parks, laying internal roads and other works, efforts would also be made to construct two-bedroom housing for the poor with a proper integrated plan. “It is a huge amount for a single constituency and will help change the face of the Cantonment region”, he said. Mr. Rajender also thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Mr. Kishan Reddy for the funds disbursal.
