The sanitary workers in Dindigul district were upset with the lack of proper arrangements at the grievance redress meeting at the Dindigul Collectorate, on Tuesday.

The workers who came to the Collectorate to submit their petitions said the meeting was being held after a long gap. However, no proper arrangements had been made. There were no proper seating arrangements and no drinking water facilities. The workers said they had to sit on the floor and write the petitions.

The workers were also upset that the Collector was not present at the grievance redress meeting. The meeting began at around 11 a.m. and the Collector was not even present at around 1 p.m., the workers said.

The workers said that though they had submitted the petitions, it was simply collected and not even looked into. They urged the authorities concerned to fulfil their demands that included permanent employment, filling of vacant posts and payment of salary arrears.
