KOCHI: Asserting that commuters who paid for the Ro-Ro ferry service in the Fort Kochi-Vypeen corridor are entitled to basic amenities, a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court upheld an interim order of the Single Bench that had directed the Kochi Corporation to construct a temporary waiting shed at the Ro-Ro Jetty in Fort Kochi that could accommodate at least 50 commuters.
Furthermore, the Bench comprising Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and V.M. Syamkumar dismissed an appeal that the Corporation had filed challenging the order of the Single Bench. The original order was passed on a petition filed by Nancy Xavier, who had sought interim relief in the form of a waiting shed at the busy jetty where commuters had to wait for long in the open till the ferries arrived.
