The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of the Acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, Justice Sujoy Paul, to Calcutta High Court along with repatriation of three judges to Telangana High Court.

Justice Sujoy Paul, who practiced as lawyer at Madhya Pradesh High Court, was elevated as judge of that High Court in 2011 before being made permanent judge three years later.

On transfer, he assumed charge as judge of Telangana High Court on March 26, 2024. He was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court on January 21, 2025.

Justices C. Sumalatha and Lalitha Kanneganti, presenting with Karnataka High Court, and Annireddy Abhishek Reddy (with Patna High Court) would be transferred back to Telangana High Court.

All the three judges were with the Telangana High Court when they were transferred to Karnataka and Patna High Courts earlier. If the Union government approves the apex court’s collegium recommendations proposed at its meeting on Monday, the three judges would assume charge as Telangana High Court judges.
