Balakrishnamurthi, 57, of Maravar Vadakku Theru in Watrap in Virudhunagar district, was reportedly hacked to death by his son Balasundaram Ajit Kumar, 25, on Saturday.

Police said domestic issues appeared to be the reason for the murder committed by the accused. Initial inquiries revealed that Ajit Kumar had finished ITI, but was jobless. The family had come to Watrap some three years ago from Kerala. DSP Raja inspected the scene of crime. The police sent the body to Watrap GH for post-mortem. Further investigation was on.
