Nikhil Kumarswamy, State president of Janata Dal (S) Youth Wing, has confidently said that the JD(S) and BJP coalition government will come to power after 2028 elections and Union Minister H.D. Kumarswamy will become the Chief Minister.
He was addressing a programme of membership registration for JD(S) in Saptapadi Kalyan Mantap at the outskirts of Yadgir city on Saturday.
The party aims to register 50 lakh new members across the State. The general public should get their name registered by giving a missed call to the number provided and ensure more new memberships, he appealed.
Mr. Nikhil said that former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Mr. Kumaraswamy desired to strengthen the party from ground level to win the next assembly elections with the BJP coalition. “I am touring the State to have interaction with the party workers and boost them for the next election,” he added.
He criticised the government for transferring the honest officers and said that law and order has collapsed in the State. “No new programmes from the government to help the poor people and farmers are being announced, as the government has no money for development works,” he targeted.
Referring to the bond between the Gouda and Kandkur families for four decades, Mr. Nikhil said that “Sadashivareddy Kandkur and Naganagouda Kandkur were with the Deve Gowda family with their unbreakable honesty, and similarly the present MLA and ancestor of the same Kandkur family, Sharanagouda Kandkur, continued with the same bonds despite many leaders coming and quitting the party.” he appreciated
While addressing the crowd, Mr. Sharanagouda Kandkur rubbished the rumours roaming around that he is shifting from Gurmitkal. “I won’t go away from the Gurmitkal Constituency, which gave a political life to my late father, Naganagouda Kandkur, and me as well. I will live between you people till my last breath,” he clarified.
Recalling memory, Mr. Sharanagouda Kandkur said that Mr. Kumarswamy had personally met the then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and got released the grant of ₹150 crore for the tank-filling project in the constituency.
Former Minister Venkatarao Nadagouda said that Mr. Kumarswamy waived ₹25,000 in farmers loan dues and helped thousands of farmers.
Doddappagouda Patil Naribol, Raja Venkatappa Nayak, Rashmi Ramegouda, Prakash Nireti, Channnappagouda Mosumbi, Nagarathna Anapur, Balaraj Guttedar, Mallanagouda Koulur, former MLAs, and others were present.
