The police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man near Tiruppur on June 29.
Balamurugan, 25, a native of Kombai village near Vedasandur in Dindigul district, and his friend Ramamoorthy, 21, of Jallipatti near Udumalpet were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
The police said that the duo hacked Sabareeswaran, 38, of Kongalnagaram on Pollachi – Dharapuram Road in Tiruppur district on the night of June 29.
According to the police, Balamurugan had an affair with a woman, who had separated from her husband. He came to know that Sabareeswaran, who was a mason by occupation, was also in contact with her.
Balamurugan and Ramamoorthy consumed alcohol on June 29 night and went to the residence of Sabareeswaran, who had been residing alone. The duo hacked him with machetes and left the spot. Sabareeswaran was found dead the next morning and Gudimangalam police registered a case.
The investigation revealed the involvement of Balamurugan and Ramamoorthy in the murder and they were arrested on Tuesday. They were remanded in judicial custody.
