In all, 40 electricity poles of Mescom were damaged due to strong winds and rain in Dakshina Kannada in the 24 hours that ended at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the District Disaster Management Authority.

It said that two houses were partially damaged in Kadaba taluk during the period.

The district recorded 27.8 mm of rainfall against the normal 42 mm for the period. Kadaba taluk reported a maximum of 40.5 mm of rainfall, and Mangaluru taluk reported a minimum of 8 mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, two houses in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district were partially damaged.

Udupi district recorded 37.8 mm of rainfall during the period, with Byndoor taluk recording the maximum 43.5 m.m. and Kaup taluk reporting the minimum 18.5 mm of rainfall.
