Four persons were arrested by the Kothamangalam police allegedly with 20 kilograms of ganja on Monday night.

The accused were identified as Noor Islam, 26, Suman Molla, 25, residents of Murshidabad in West Bengal, and Shimanjal Pal, 36, and Prashanth Kumar, 58, of Odisha. The seizure was made when they were intercepted and questioned after being found in suspicious circumstances on Monday night. The suspected ganja was recovered from their bags.

Man arrested

The Kochi City police on Tuesday arrested a man with 4.74 grams of suspected MDMA from Vyttila.

The arrested was identified as Akbar Ali, 40, of Kasaragod. A patrolling unit from the Maradu police station found him in suspicious circumstances along the Safdar Hashmi Lane in Vyttila. A search led to the discovery of the alleged contraband.

The police said that the accused was out selling the suspected drug. He was produced before the court and remanded.

Suspected ganja seized

The Thrikkakara police on Tuesday seized 8.65 kilograms of suspected ganja from the house of a migrant worker in Vazhakkala.

The arrested was identified as Suman Sekh, 22, of Farakka, Murshidabad in West Bengal. During the raid, the police recovered a plastic sack containing eight packets of suspected ganja from the kitchen.

The police said that the accused had smuggled in suspected ganja from West Bengal to sell it for a higher price. The mobile phone of the accused has also been seized. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
