The Government Railway Police(GRP) on Monday arrested a 45-year-old man for making sexual overture towards women passengers on a moving MRTS(Mass Rapid Transport System)train plying between Velachery and Chennai.

Police sources said one of personnel of Railway Protection Force(RPF) had happened to see a video that was posted on Instagram. The video showed him behaving in an inappropriate sexual manner before women passengers on Saturday evening. This was forwarded to GRP, Thiruvanmiyur police for further action.

The GRP registered a case under Sections 75 (Sexual Harassment) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 4 of TN Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and launched a hunt to trace the man.

At Indira Nagar railway station, they spotted and arrested the man who has been identified as D. Alagar Raja, 42, of Oddanchatram, Dindiguil district. He was remanded to judicial custody after he confessed to the crime.
