V. P. Ramalingam has been elected as president of Puducherry unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday. Mr. Ramalingam, a former nominated legislator of the party, was the lone member to submit nomination for election to party’s Puducherry unit chief.
The party made the announcement of his election at a function held in a convention centre. BJP national general secretary and election-in-charge Tarun Chugh, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and outgoing president S. Selvaganbathy, former Minister A. K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar, legislators and party in-charge for the Union Territory Nirmal Kumar Surana were present.
