Parents suspecting a foul play in the death of a seven-year-old son staged a protest at Singampunari here on Monday demanding a probe into the matter.

Police said B. Ashwinth, 7, of Singampunari, was studying in a private school at Manalmettupatti.

He went to school on Monday morning. A school staff informed the boy’s parents over the phone that their child was admitted at Singampunari government hospital as he was unwell.

When the parents went to the hospital, they were informed that their child was already dead.

Shocked by the absence of any school staff at the hospital, the family members staged a protest outside the hospital near the bus stop doubting the cause of death.

After Singampunari police assured them of a fair investigation, they dispersed.
