Over a dozen workers sustained serious injuries in an explosion at Sigachi Industries Pvt. Ltd. in the Pashamylaram industrial area on Monday (June 30, 2025) morning.

A distress call was received by the Fire Control Room at 9.37 a.m., prompting the deployment of eleven fire tenders to the site.

The explosion reportedly took place in one of the reactors at the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit, triggering panic in the vicinity.

The Fire Department officials said that all injured workers were rushed to nearby hospitals, with several of them suffering critical burn injuries.

The firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control. Preliminary inquiries suggest that a pressure build-up in the reactor may have caused the blast. Further details are awaited.

A detailed investigation is underway to establish the exact cause and check whether safety protocols were being followed at the facility.
