Tamil Nadu Assembly speaker M. Appavu on Saturday inaugurated a district-level special camp organised for maintenance of agricultural machinery and equipment. The camp was organised by the Department of Agricultural Engineering at SCAD engineering college in Cheranmahadevi.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the welfare measures introduced by the present government and their implementation. He recalled that late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had provided free electricity connections to 25 lakh farmers, calling it a model scheme for the entire country.
Addressing the gathering, Tirunelveli Collector R. Sukumar said the farmers could learn many aspects of operating agricultural machinery and equipment at the camp. They would be able to interact with engineers from manufacturing companies and departmental officials and gain knowledge about operating methods, fault diagnosis, explanation about spare parts and use of lubricants.
“Farmers can bring their own tractors and equipment to the camp and get maintenance done for free,” the Collector added.
He further said that awareness would be created about the efficient operation of maintenance of farming machinery and equipment at the camp.
Krishnamoorthy, Executive Engineer of Agricultural Engineering, and local body members and farmers were present at the event.
