All Women Police, Selaiyur has arrested a police constable and his friend for allegedly raping a woman police constable and cheating her after promising to marry her. 

The victim is 30-year-old woman constable attached with Armed Reserve (AR) unit of Tambaram city police and was also part of kabaddi team. One of the accused Veeramani, 35 of Chitalapakkam, is also attached to AR and also a coach to the players. The victim and accused Veeramani got acquainted each other and fell in love with each other. He had physical relationship promising to marry her. However, he dodged her when she insisted on marriage.

He also introduced his friend Sarathkumar, 30, an auto driver and Sarathkumar also cheated her. Sarathkumar forced her to abort when she conceived. Later, she realised that the duo had deliberately cheated her and lodged a complaint with Tambaram City Police Commissioner. 

Police registered a case based on her complaint and arrested Veeramani and Sarathkumar. They were remanded to judicial custody.
