Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu inaugurated four branch ration shops in his Radhapuram Assembly segment on Thursday.
As some of the ration shops in Radhapuram have more number of ration cards, which makes the distribution of essential commodities tougher for the salesmen and the public, the new branch rations shops have been created by bifurcating the existing shops with excess number of ration cards.
Accordingly, the ration shop in Samooharengapuram has been bifurcated to form new branch ration shop at Bungalow Street while Sooduyarnthaanvilai and Kalvilai have got new branch ration shops as the Karaisuttrupudhur ration shop has been split.
Similarly, the ration shop at A. Sattankulam in Nanguneri union has also been divided into two to have the new branch ration shop at Karuppukkatti village.
“The ration cardholders can easily buy the essential commodities from the newly created shops,” Mr. Appavu said.
The Speaker also informed that the ongoing work on the drinking water scheme for supplying water from the Tamirabharani river to every house would be completed in the near future.
Chairman of Tirunelveli district panchayat V. S. R. Jegadeesh and Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies Dinesh Kovilmani were present.
