Justice Surepalli Nanda of Telangana High Court has directed the State government to consider the representation of 52 doctors, who retired from AYUSH department having served as medical officers, to grant them pension and other benefits by counting their service period from 2002 to 2006, when they worked on contract basis.
The petitioners contended that they served in Department of AYUSH from 2002 to 2006, when they were initially appointed on contract basis during that period. They wanted the government to compute this period of service as contract medical officers to grant benefits like pension and gratuity.
Allowing the writ petition, the judge instructed the government to consider request of the petitioners to process their pension proposals by computing their service from the date of initial appointment of the petitioners within three weeks in accordance with law.
