Three people lost their lives and around ten others were injured when a speeding lorry rammed into commuters at Lankelapalem Junction, under Parawada Police Station limits, late on Monday (June 23, 2025) night.

According to Inspector of Parawada police station, R. Mallikarjuna Rao, the lorry was heading towards Anakapalli from Gajuwaka, when it reportedly rammed into multiple vehicles at the busy junction. The collision involved three cars, a container lorry, and six two-wheelers. One car and several motorcycles were completely crushed, and the container lorry overturned under the impact, the Inspector said.

Two of the deceased, K. Appalanaidu and P. Gandhi, both approximately 35 years old, were in one of the cars. A third victim, Y. Appadu, an employee of Pharmacity who was riding a motorcycle, also died.

“There is speculation that the lorry may have suffered brake failure, but this has not been confirmed yet. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, and efforts are underway to nab him at the earliest,” Mr. Mallikarjuna Rao.

The incident caused a major traffic disruption at the junction.

Parawada police have registered a case, and the bodies have been sent to NTR Hospital in Anakapalli for post-mortem examination.
