Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Sunny Joseph on Monday termed the United Democratic Front’s victory in the Nilambur bypoll a clear verdict against the State government, attributing the victory to widespread anti- government sentiment and coordinated efforts by the front.

“This is a victory of teamwork and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the government must take this as a lesson,“ he told mediapersons.

On questions regarding Independent candidate P.V. Anvar’s significant vote share, Mr. Joseph acknowledged the impact but said the matter would be addressed in due course.

“The issue of bringing Mr. Anwar to the forefront will be discussed later,” he said.

He reiterated that the UDF’s win was not the result of individual efforts, but a collective push by the alliance.

“This success is a product of united work by the UDF,” he added.
