The inflow into reservoirs has been on the rise following heavy rains in the Malnad region of Karnataka.

The water level in Linganamakki reservoir in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district increased by over three feet within 24 hours, and the quantity of water increased by almost 4 TMC. The water level in the reservoir stood at 1,769.7 ft at 8 a.m on June 17. The level was 1,766.4 ft. on June 16. The quantity of water on June 17 was 39.15 TMC (25.82%), as against 35.01 TMC on June 16

The maximum water level is 1,819 ft, and the total capacity of the reservoir is 151.64 TMC.

As of June 17 morning, the inflow was 50,576 cusecs.

The dam has been built to generate electricity.

Karnataka has been receiving rain every day over the last one week. On June 16, the IMD-Bengaluru had issued an orange alert for Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts.
