The State government has decided to constitute a committee to resolve the ongoing impasse in the film industry that led to abrupt halt in film shoots.

The committee will be entrusted with the responsibility of holding discussions with all the stakeholders as part of efforts to end the stalemate. Cinematography and R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy advised producers as well as representatives of film workers federation to adopt give and take approach so that problems are resolved. “Discussions between the two sides will help thrash out an amicable solution,” he said.

The Minister convened a meeting of film producers and the federation to discuss about the problems faced by the two sides. He reiterated that the government stood by the workers, but said the federation should also consider the difficulties faced by the small producers.

He requested the two sides to co-operate with the government in finding a solution to their issues. He expressed concern over the abrupt stoppage of film shoots and hoped that the activity would commence from Wednesday in the right earnest.

He explained the participants about the government’s efforts to develop the State capital as a global film hub. The ogvernment was firm on protecting the brand image of Hyderabad as a hub of cinema and entertainment sectors.

There were several major destinations in the State that were ideal for film shoots. This would help locals to earn a respectable income and generate gainful employment for them.

The government was sympathetic towards the problems faced by film workers and was firm on evolving a permanent solution to the problems facing the industry. “Resorting to strikes is not an appropriate decision,” he said.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was in favour of providing housing and other infrastructure to film workers to improve their living standards.

Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju stressed the need for unity among all sections of the industry, and said that would help in realising the State government’s efforts to make Hyderabad a global film hub.
