Yuvraj Singh has been part of India’s two World Cup-winning squads — the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

The former Indian all-rounder admits that a World Cup at home comes with added pressure. And as India’s women’s cricket team gears up for an ODI World Cup on home soil, Yuvraj believes it’s important for the players to believe in themselves.

“The fans are always wanting fours and sixes, or wickets. That’s the game. They come to watch. They want entertainment. They want to be entertained,” Yuvraj said on the sidelines of the 50-day countdown event for the World Cup here on Monday.

According to him, handling the pressure will be the key.

“If you want to win the World Cup, you have to be in the situation you are in, I think. There will be times where they’re going to feel that pressure.

“There will be times when things are not going well. And that’s the time when the experience, the self-belief, has to take over. The belief that I can be the player at this moment. I think every time you walk in the game, you have to believe that,” Yuvraj said, adding that the team needs to stay in the present and not look too far ahead.
