In a broad daylight murder, a 30-year-old man, M. Marimuthu, was hacked to death in his house at Allampatti on Monday afternoon.

Virudhunagar East police have arrested his colleague, K. Arun, 26, in this connection.

The police said that the deceased, who was working as a driver in a packaged water supplying company, was found brutally murdered with sharp weapons at around 2 p.m.

Enquiry revealed that Marimuthu, had an illegal relationship with the wife of Arun.

Last week, Arun had warned Marimuthu against continuing his illicit affair.

In the meanwhile, when Marimuthu was at home, Arun had barged into his house with a machete and attacked him repeatedly inflicting multiple bleeding injuries.

The injured was immediately rushed to Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
