The Hyderabad City Police have issued orders to close liquor outlets in select areas of Hyderabad from July 13 to 15 in view of the upcoming Sree Ujjaini Mahakali Jathara (Bonalu festival) in Secunderabad.
In a notification issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, all toddy and wine shops, including bars in restaurants (excluding those in star hotels and registered clubs), must remain shut from 6 a.m. on July 13 to 6 a.m. on July 15. The move is aimed at maintaining public peace and order during the religious celebrations.
The restriction will be enforced with the police stations falling under the North, East, and Central Zones of Hyderabad. The targeted areas include Gandhi Nagar, Chilkalguda, Lalaguda, Warasiguda, Begumpet, Gopalapuram, Tukaramgate, Marredpally, Mahankali, Ramgopalpet, and Market.
Officials have appealed to residents and business owners to cooperate with the temporary closure to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.
