A total of 366 recruit police constables took out a passing out parade after successfully completing their 32-week-long basic training at the permanent police training school at Idayapatti in the district on Tuesday.

Director General of Police (Police Training College), Sandeep Rai Rathore, inspected the parade and distributed prizes to the outstanding recruits.

Addressing them, he said that the uniform was not just power but responsibility to serve the people with honesty and compassion.

The police constables, who were recruited for Tamil Nadu Special Police, were given training on law, drill, weapon handling, firing and on computer.

Besides, they underwent training on swimming, driving, and on various wings of police. They also underwent commando training.

Among the recruits, 77 were engineering graduates, 51 post-graduates, 177 graduates and 17 ex-servicemen.

They would be sent for one month practical training to TSP battalions in Madurai, Tiruchi and Palani.

The police recruits performed different drills.

The PRS Prinicipal, V. Ramalingam and Vice-Principal, Mariappan, were present.
