Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) Director Channabasavanna S.L. has urged police officers to tackle the rising cases of cybercrimes and devise strategies to prevent people from falling prey to cyber fraudsters.

Speaking at the inauguration of a three-day workshop on “Cyber crime, its new methods, and effective investigation” at the academy, Mr. Channabasavanna said, “There has been an increase in cybercrimes, which pose a major challenge to both the police and the public. Gullible people are becoming easy targets for cybercriminals who use advanced tools to defraud them. Investigating such crimes has become challenging.”

The KPA director emphasised that police personnel should continuously update themselves to handle these modern crimes. “They should strategise their investigations. The biggest challenge before the police is to prevent cybercrimes and investigate cases efficiently to provide justice to victims,” he said.

Forty-nine police officers, including nine women officers, took part in the workshop. Experts in cyber security, IT, and other related fields will conduct sessions and train the officers in cybercrime investigation techniques, new modus operandi of criminals, and digital technologies.
