Udupi Town police have booked the Social Democratic Party of India’s State vice-president, Riyaz Kadambu, for allegedly spreading false news regarding the disposal of a cow’s body parts in Brahmavar.
During a recent press conference, Riyaz Kadambu said the incident of throwing the head and other body parts of a cow on the road in Kunjalu in Brahmavar was an organised act by Sangh Parivar activists to divert the attention of people from pressing developmental issues. He accused the involvement of Sangh Parivar and BJP activists in the incident and asked police to trace the persons behind this incident who did it to create a communal disturbance.
Seeing the video of the press conference posted on social media, the police registered a suo motu case against Kadambu. He was accused of spreading false news and trying to create communal unrest. The case was registered on July 5 for offences punishable under Section 353(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
