The youth wing of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Visakhapatnam, organised ‘Aarta Janodharana Seva’ for the homeless near the Gnanapuram gate of the Visakhapatnam Railway Station as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba on Sunday (July 6).

A dedicated group of 180 young volunteers from various samithis of the district identified mentally ill and neglected individuals through a survey around bus and railway stations. These individuals were taken to the service site, where the youth, trained in shaving and grooming, cut their hair, bathed and dressed them in clean clothes, treated minor wounds and served them nutritious food.

District president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations P.R.S.N. Naidu, who inaugurated the programme, lauded the selfless service of the youth and emphasised the vital role of the youth in the organisation.

The service activity was coordinated by Sai Santosh, district youth coordinator(gents), and Manikanta, joint district youth coordinator of the organisation, Visakhapatnam district.

Office bearers, bhajan conveners and devotees from various Sai samithis of Visakhapatnam district also participated in the initiative.
