Student induction programme
A four-day Induction programme was conducted at A.K.D.Dharmaraja Women’s College from June 24 to June 27, 2025. On the first day, the Principal and Heads of Departments spoke on education beyond academics.
On the second day, Assistant Professors elaborated on college rules. On the third day, Deputy Superintendent of Police Baseena Beevi delivered a special address on the POCSO Act.
On the final day, educational consultant Sankaranarayanan emphasised the importance of gaining general knowledge beyond textbooks. The day also featured practical demonstrations by fire officers Muthu Selvam, Isakki Rasan, Selvamuthu Vinayagam and Maharajan on firefighting techniques.
The event was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Coordinator Manjula Devi, and Assistant Coordinator Jennifer. Principal Lakshmi welcomed and a student Sowmiya proposed a vote of thanks.
Hands-on training

The Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam, and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology organised a three-day innovative hands-on training programme.
The Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam, and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) organised a three-day innovative hands-on training programme. The focus was to develop rural entrepreneurs through a programme on agro-based business ventures, adoption of new technologies, and practical exposure to value-added products.
K. R. Rajadurai, Professor and Head, Department of Social Sciences, welcomed and A. Eswari, Principal Investigator of the project, explained the TNSCST activities.
J. Rajangam, Dean of the Institute, highlighted the significance of commercial horticultural crops in Tamil Nadu. He said that the institute had supported 32 young agro-preneurs in various sectors and developed 240 incubatees across Tamil Nadu.
Theni Collector Ranjith Singh, who inaugurated the event, insisted on looking into the possibilities of mango pulping and processing small-scale units.

Parvathy’s Arts and Science College, Dindigul, organised a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Teaching Gen Z: Strategies for Digital-Age Learners” on June 28.
R. Bhuvanendran, Controller of Examinations, welcomed the gathering. S.S. Srinivasan, Principal, presided over the event.
He emphasised the significance of the FDP. He also urged the educators to adapt to the evolving digital landscape and student needs.
B. Sathiamoorthy, Head of the Department of Commerce, introduced the guest speaker. The resource person, P. Ravichandran, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, GTN Arts College, Dindigul, elaborated on modern teaching strategies to engage and mentor Gen Z learners. Around 60 faculty members took part in the programme.

Sri S. Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College conducted the motivational programme on “Head or Heart – on Emotional Intelligence” for first-year students at the college auditorium on June 23.
The session was coordinated by B. Ajantha, Dean of Extension Activities. The chief guest for the day was S. Nagalingam, IRS (Retd.), Founder and Head Coach of the Nikhil Foundation.

Fresher’s Day

Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science celebrated Fresher’s Day on June 23. K. C. C. Maranmani, secretary, NSCAS, presented the welcome address.
The presidential address was delivered by A. S. G. Dharmarajan, president, T.M.H.N.U. The prefatory address was delivered by A. S. Jeevagan, vice-president, T.M.H.N.U.
M. M. Anandavel, general secretary, T.M.H.N.U., and B. Ramachandran, treasurer, T.M.H.N.U., R. Umagandhi, vice-principal, Head of the Department of English, released the prelude of NSCAS. The felicitation address was given by S. Chitra, principal, and A. Komathi, academic dean. The chief guest was T. Niranjana Devi, an alumna from the 2005–2008 batch. She urged the fresher to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the college. A. Saranya, Controller of Examination, proposed a vote of thanks.
Student induction programme
A student induction programme for freshers was jointly organised by the college union and the Department of English at V. V. Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, from June 18 to June 23.
The orientation programme was conducted by the college union on June 18. S. Cinthana, principal, delivered the welcome address. The senior faculty members oriented the students.
In the afternoon session, a campus tour was conducted by the respective departments. Following that a health awareness programme was conducted.
The resource person Vandhana Raj, founder and instructor, ADFC’s, Virudhunagar, addressed the students on “Health, Hygiene and Social Behaviour”. A personality development programme was organised by the college union on June 20. The resource persons, Sridevi Natesan, HR Trainer, and Manimegalai Kannan and Vidhya Kodeeswaran, zone trainers, made the students realise the importance of time management.
International Yoga Day celebration was organised by the college union on June 21. A yoga session was conducted by the college yoga instructor, R. Nagajothi. The Department of English organised a three-day ‘Communication Skills Programme and mentoring with Universal Human Values’ for freshers on June 19, June 21 and June 23.

Ph.D. public viva-voice

GTN Arts College holds first Ph.D. public viva-voce in Tamil Department.
The Research Department of Tamil, GTN Arts College, Dindigul, conducted Ph.D. Public Viva Voce Examination on 19th June 2025.
The examination was held for A. Shanthi Rani, the department’s first Ph.D. scholar, under the supervision of S. Sujatha, Associate Professor and Research Supervisor. The scholar presented her thesis titled “Human Values in the Works of Vannadasan.”
The external examiner N. Arul Mozhi, Associate Professor of Tamil, ANJA College, appreciated the candidate.
