The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) waged a war against fake news on social media by organising a seminar on ‘Artificial Intelligence-Social Media-Fact Finding’ as a part of its 36th State Maha Sabha, in Ongole on Tuesday .

The seminar was presided over by APUWJ State President I.V. Subba Rao. The keynote speakers provided awareness on artificial intelligence, social media, and the approach to deal with the false stories.

Chairman of Telangana State Press Academy K. Sreenivas Reddy said that A.P. will be at the forefront in the use of IT and AI, and the journalists should stop spreading false propaganda and write true stories. He said that the false stories will leave democracy in a very miserable state.

“As journalists, we have a responsibility to denounce fake news stories coming through social media. We should focus on stories that are useful to the society by absorbing the emerging knowledge and sharpening our intellectual power,” he added.

AP Press Academy Chairman Alapati Suresh said that the journalists should emphasise that there is nothing greater than the human brain and the journalists should spread only true stories. Satyendra Narayan Sinha, former president of Indian Journalists Union (IJU), also spoke at the seminar.
