Telangana police’s use of technology and integrating it with expediting passport verification has been recognised as the best performing digital platform in the country for passport applicant verification. Tuesday (June 24, 2025).
According to the Ministry’s latest national metrics, Telangana leads the country in passport verification efficiency, resolving a majority of applications within a record three working days. Receiving the national award, Mr. Shivdhar Reddy remarked that the State Police is proud to have set a “gold standard” in passport verification, and the department actively worked on further innovations to enhance citizen experience.
The key highlights of the VeriFast App include fastest average passport verification time in India, zero backlog efficiency through dynamic assignment of field officers, 95% citizen satisfaction rate, and over 2,000 verifications per day, surpassing eight lakh cases annually.
At the same time, it helps in fraud prevention through integration with criminal intelligence databases and minimal operational costs achieved without new hardware requirements.
The App also exemplifies smart governance and optimises workflow through a structured, stage-wise process that minimises errors and enhances officer accountability. It assigns the pending cases automatically to available officers, ensuring prompt action and there is a seamless connectivity with criminal records for enhanced background checks. The applicants get instant notifications throughout the verification process.
